Hello fellow aviation enthusiast!

As you have likely read, I am considering building a hangar at the Hudson's Hope aerodrome.

My primary motivation for this is to have a secure location to park an airplane for myself that is both protected from the elements, as well as the general public.

From the conversations I have had, I have learned that hangar space is very hard to come by in places like Fort St. John and Chetwynd, and so not wanting to have to leave an airplane outside throughout the winters, I am considering building a hangar in Hudson's Hope (CYNH) to store an airplane.

My first thought was to build a hangar just large enough for my needs, though the cost to build a larger hangar is only incrementally more than a smaller hangar, and so given the seeming lack of hangar space in the Peace area, I wanted to reach out to aviators in the area to see how many other folks are interested in hangar space for their aircraft - either to get it out of the elements, or perhaps from a strategic / location perspective.

I am not really looking to make any money off of this (does anyone in GA??), morever, just looking to help reduce the costs of owning the hangar.

As mentioned, there are two styles I am considering

1) Single Large Hangar (~4 aircraft in total) - ~$400/month for a piston single

Pro's:

- Large door / opening to accomodate a variety of aircraft shapes / sizes - presently planning for a free-span opening of 60'x18'

- Lower cost option of the two

Cons:

- Shared space with ~3 other aircraft

2) T-Hangar - $600-$700/month for a piston single

Pro's:

- Private space for each aircraft

- No airplanes stuck "in the back" - no need to ever move other aircraft to get yours out

Con's:

- Cost - anticipating rent would be 50-70% higher than the single large hangar / shared space model
